    INGREDIENTS

    For the chicken and noodles

    • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
    • 8 ounces noodles (lo mein, udon, or spaghetti)
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup broccoli florets
    • ½ cup bell peppers, thinly sliced
    • ½ cup carrots, julienned
    • 2 green onions, chopped
    • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

    For the teriyaki sauce

    • ¼ cup soy sauce
    • 2 tablespoons honey
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • ½ teaspoon ginger, grated
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)

    DIRECTIONS

    • Step No.1: Cook the noodles
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the noodles according to package instructions.

    • Drain and toss them with a small amount of oil to prevent sticking. Set aside while you prepare the other ingredients.

    • Step No.2: Make the teriyaki sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and grated ginger.

    • In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry. Add it to the sauce and stir well. Set aside.

    • Step No.3: Cook the chicken
Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes to develop a golden sear.

    • Stir and cook for another 4-5 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.

    • Step No.4: Stir-fry the vegetables
In the same pan, add garlic, broccoli, bell peppers, and carrots. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp. Keep stirring to prevent burning.

    • Step No.5: Combine everything
Return the cooked chicken to the pan and pour in the teriyaki sauce. Stir everything together, then add the cooked noodles.

    • Toss well to coat everything evenly in the sauce. Let it cook for another 2 minutes so the sauce thickens and absorbs into the noodles.

    • Step No.6: Garnish and serve
Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately and enjoy.

    TIPS FOR SUCCESS

    • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh garlic and ginger make the sauce more flavorful.

    • Cook chicken properly: A good sear locks in flavour and keeps the meat juicy.

    • Don't overcook the noodles: Slightly undercook them as they'll continue to cook when mixed with the sauce.

    • Let the sauce thicken: Simmering for a few minutes helps the sauce coat the noodles better.

    • Adjust sweetness: Reduce honey or brown sugar if you prefer a less sweet sauce.

    • Stir frequently: This prevents burning and ensures that vegetables are even cooked.

    VARIATIONS

    • Spicy version: Add red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.

    • Different proteins: Swap chicken for shrimp, beef, or tofu.

    • gluten-free diet option: Use tamari instead of soy sauce and rice noodles.

    • Extra crunch: Top with chopped peanuts or cashews.

    • Low-carb alternative: Substitute zucchini noodles for a lighter version.

    • More veggies: Add mushrooms, snap peas, or baby corn for variety.

    SERVING AND STORAGE

    SERVING

Serve hot with extra sesame seeds and green onions. Pair it with spring rolls or miso soup for a complete meal.

    STORAGE

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a pan over medium heat with a splash of water to refresh the sauce before serving.

    About Sana Umer

I'm Sana Umer — the home cook behind every recipe on For Foodie Friends. I'm a Pakistani-American mom of two based in the US, and I've been cooking seriously for about a decade now, mostly because feeding a family every day is the fastest way to learn how to actually cook.

I'm completely self-taught. I learned by watching my mother in Pakistan, by burning a lot of food in my early years, and by paying attention to which recipes worked and which ones needed fixing. I don't specialize in just one cuisine — I cook the Pakistani dishes I grew up with, the American desserts my kids request, weeknight dinners, holiday roasts, and everything in between.

Every recipe is personally tested in my own kitchen, every word is written by me, and every photo is taken of food I actually made.

Hi, I'm Sana Umer — the home cook, recipe tester, and writer behind For Foodie Friends.

I'm a Pakistani-American mom based in the US. I learned to cook in two kitchens — my mother's in Pakistan, where I grew up watching whole spices bloom in oil, and my own kitchen now, where I cook for my husband and kids.

Every recipe on this site has been tested in my own kitchen, often more times than I'd like to admit, before it ever made it here. I cook a little bit of everything: the Pakistani comfort food I grew up with, the American desserts my kids beg for, weeknight dinners that need to come together fast, and the holiday spreads that take all day.

If a recipe is on this site, it earned its place. No ghostwriters, no AI shortcuts, no copy-paste from somewhere else — just real recipes from a real kitchen, written to actually work the first time you make them.

Welcome to my corner of the internet.

    — Sana
