Corrections & Updates Policy

Corrections & Updates Policy

At For Foodie Friends, I take accuracy seriously. Recipes are practical instructions that people rely on to feed their families — and getting them right matters. This page explains how I handle corrections, recipe updates, and reader feedback.

How I Catch Errors

Most corrections come from one of three places:

  1. Reader feedback — comments on the recipe, emails through the contact form, or messages on Facebook, Pinterest, or YouTube
  2. My own re-testing — when I cook a recipe again and notice it could be clearer, more accurate, or work better with a small change
  3. My family's feedback — they cook from these recipes too, and they tell me when something doesn't work

What I Correct

When an error is identified, I update the recipe immediately. This includes:

  • Ingredient errors (wrong measurements, missing ingredients, incorrect substitutions)
  • Instruction errors (skipped steps, wrong temperatures, incorrect cooking times)
  • Factual errors in introductions, tips, or background information
  • Outdated information (links that no longer work, ingredients no longer available, equipment changes)

How Updates Are Marked

When a recipe is significantly updated:

  • The "Updated" date on the post is changed to reflect the most recent edit
  • Major changes are noted in a comment or update note within the post
  • Minor edits (typo fixes, small clarifications) may be made without a separate notice

Responding to Reader Feedback

If you find an error, please:

  1. Leave a comment on the recipe post itself, or
  2. Send a message through my contact page, or
  3. Reach out through any of my social channels (Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube)

I read every comment and message personally. Corrections that affect recipe outcomes get my immediate attention. I'll acknowledge your feedback and update the recipe as needed.

Recipes That Get Removed

In rare cases, a recipe may be removed entirely. This happens when:

  • I can no longer reliably reproduce the dish
  • The recipe is fundamentally flawed and can't be fixed
  • The recipe duplicates another post on the site

When a recipe is removed, the URL is redirected to the closest related recipe or category page so readers don't hit a dead end.

Photo Updates

Sometimes I re-photograph older recipes when I make them again or improve my photography. New photos may replace older ones without notice, but the recipe itself isn't changed unless I'm also updating the instructions.

Your Trust Matters

If something on this site isn't working for you, I want to know. Recipes are meant to actually work in real kitchens, and I depend on reader feedback to keep them that way. Thank you for helping me make For Foodie Friends better.

Hi, I'm Sana Umer — the home cook, recipe tester, and writer behind For Foodie Friends.

I'm a Pakistani-American mom based in the US. I learned to cook in two kitchens — my mother's in Pakistan, where I grew up watching whole spices bloom in oil, and my own kitchen now, where I cook for my husband and kids.

Every recipe on this site has been tested in my own kitchen, often more times than I'd like to admit, before it ever made it here. I cook a little bit of everything: the Pakistani comfort food I grew up with, the American desserts my kids beg for, weeknight dinners that need to come together fast, and the holiday spreads that take all day.

If a recipe is on this site, it earned its place. No ghostwriters, no AI shortcuts, no copy-paste from somewhere else — just real recipes from a real kitchen, written to actually work the first time you make them.

Welcome to my corner of the internet.

— Sana
