Bourbon Peach Salmon! It sounds a little fancy, but it's surprisingly easy to make and it's absolutely bursting with flavor.

This salmon is seriously amazing. The bourbon glaze is sweet and a little bit smoky, and it pairs perfectly with the sweet, juicy peaches.

The salmon itself is flaky and tender, and it just melts in your mouth. It's like a party in your mouth!

What's really great about this recipe is that it's pretty healthy too! Salmon is packed with good fats and protein, and the peaches add a touch of sweetness without being too sugary. So you can enjoy a delicious and flavorful meal that's also good for you.

This recipe is perfect for a special occasion or even just a weeknight dinner. It's quick to prepare and it looks beautiful on the plate. You can serve it with your favorite sides, like rice or roasted vegetables.

I really hope you give this bourbon peach salmon a try! It's one of my go-to meals, and I think you'll absolutely love it. It's sweet, savory, and just so incredibly delicious.

Why You'll Love This Recipe:

  • Flavorful and Sophisticated: The bourbon peach glaze adds a unique and complex flavor profile that elevates the simple salmon to gourmet status.

  • Easy and Quick: This meal is relatively quick and easy to prepare, especially if you use pre-cut salmon fillets.

  • Elegant Presentation: The glossy glaze and perfectly cooked salmon create a visually appealing dish that's perfect for special occasions.

  • Versatile: This recipe can be easily adapted to use other fruits or types of alcohol.

  • Healthy and Delicious: Salmon is a healthy and nutritious fish, and this recipe enhances its natural flavors without adding excessive fat or calorie information.

Ingredients:

For the Salmon:

  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Bourbon Peach Glaze:

  • 1 cup diced ripe peaches (fresh or frozen)
  • ¼ cup bourbon whiskey
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions:

  • Step 1: Prepare the Peach Glaze:
In a medium saucepan, combine the diced peaches, bourbon whiskey, brown sugar, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).

  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the peaches are softened and the sauce has thickened slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  • Step 2: Cook the Salmon:
While the glaze is simmering, prepare the salmon. Heat olive oil in a large skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat. Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper.

  • Place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down if using skin-on fillets.

  • Sear for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  • The cooking time will depend on the thickness of your fillets.

  • Step 3: Glaze the Salmon:
Brush the cooked salmon fillets generously with the bourbon peach glaze. You can also spoon some of the glaze over the salmon.

  • Step 4: Serve:
Serve the Bourbon Peach Salmon immediately.

Serving and Storage:

Serving:

  • Special Occasion Meal: This dish is perfect for a romantic dinner, anniversary celebration, birthday, or other special occasion.

  • Weeknight Indulgence: It's also a great way to elevate your weeknight dinner routine and make it feel a little more special.

  • Side Dish: Serve the salmon with rice, quinoa, roasted vegetables, or a salad.

Storage:

  • Refrigerate: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

  • Reheating: Reheat the salmon gently in the microwave or oven until warmed through. The texture of the salmon may change slightly after reheating. Adding a little extra glaze during reheating can help.

Tips for Success:

  • Use Ripe Peaches: Ripe peaches will give the glaze the best flavor. If using frozen peaches, make sure they are thawed before cooking.

  • Don't Overcook the Salmon: Overcooked salmon will be dry and tough. Cook it until it flakes easily with a fork.

  • Adjust Cooking Time: The cooking time for the salmon will depend on the thickness of your fillets. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. 145°F is the recommended internal temperature for cooked salmon.

  • Simmer the Glaze: Simmering the glaze allows the flavors to meld together and thicken slightly.

  • Use Quality Bourbon: A good quality bourbon will enhance the flavor of the glaze.

Variations:

  • Different Fruit: You can use other fruits, such as nectarines, plums, or apricots, instead of peaches.

  • Spicy Bourbon Peach Salmon: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a few dashes of hot sauce to the glaze for a spicy kick.

  • Maple Bourbon Glaze: Use maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a different flavor profile.

  • Grilled Salmon: Grill the salmon instead of cooking it in a skillet for a smoky flavor.

  • Baked Salmon: Bake the salmon in the oven for a healthier option.

About Sana Umer

I'm Sana Umer — the home cook behind every recipe on For Foodie Friends. I'm a Pakistani-American mom of two based in the US, and I've been cooking seriously for about a decade now, mostly because feeding a family every day is the fastest way to learn how to actually cook.

I'm completely self-taught. I learned by watching my mother in Pakistan, by burning a lot of food in my early years, and by paying attention to which recipes worked and which ones needed fixing. I don't specialize in just one cuisine — I cook the Pakistani dishes I grew up with, the American desserts my kids request, weeknight dinners, holiday roasts, and everything in between.

Every recipe is personally tested in my own kitchen, every word is written by me, and every photo is taken of food I actually made.

Hi, I'm Sana Umer — the home cook, recipe tester, and writer behind For Foodie Friends.

I'm a Pakistani-American mom based in the US. I learned to cook in two kitchens — my mother's in Pakistan, where I grew up watching whole spices bloom in oil, and my own kitchen now, where I cook for my husband and kids.

Every recipe on this site has been tested in my own kitchen, often more times than I'd like to admit, before it ever made it here. I cook a little bit of everything: the Pakistani comfort food I grew up with, the American desserts my kids beg for, weeknight dinners that need to come together fast, and the holiday spreads that take all day.

If a recipe is on this site, it earned its place. No ghostwriters, no AI shortcuts, no copy-paste from somewhere else — just real recipes from a real kitchen, written to actually work the first time you make them.

Welcome to my corner of the internet.

— Sana
