2. Mexican Street Corn Dip

Mexican street corn dip

A warm, creamy, utterly addictive dip loaded with all the bold flavours of Mexican elote — charred corn, sour cream, cotija cheese, chilli powder, and fresh lime. Served with tortilla chips for a game day dip that gets demolished long before halftime every single time.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups corn kernels (fresh, frozen, or canned — charred in a dry skillet for best flavour)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup cotija cheese or shredded cheddar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Tortilla chips, for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Char the corn in a dry skillet over high heat for 4–5 minutes until lightly blackened. Set aside.
  2. Beat together the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo until smooth. Stir in ¾ cup of the cotija, chilli powder, smoked paprika, cumin, lime juice, and salt and pepper.
  3. Fold in the charred corn and cilantro. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining cotija.
  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbling and lightly golden. Dust with extra chilli powder and a squeeze of lime. Serve with tortilla chips.

1. The Best Buffalo Chicken Dip

The best buffalo chicken dip

The undisputed king of game day dips — rich, spicy, creamy buffalo chicken dip that is deeply flavourful, golden on top, and completely irresistible. This is the recipe everyone asks for and the one that always gets cleaned out first. Make a double batch. You will need it.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ⅔ cup buffalo sauce (Frank's RedHot recommended)
  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • ½ cup blue cheese dressing (or more ranch)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar or Colby Jack, divided
  • ¼ cup parmesan, grated
  • Green onions and crumbled blue cheese, for garnish
  • Tortilla chips, celery, and crackers, for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, parmesan, and 1 cup of the shredded cheese until combined.
  2. Fold in the shredded chicken until evenly distributed. Transfer to a greased 9-inch baking dish or cast iron skillet.
  3. Top with the remaining shredded cheese. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden, bubbling, and slightly caramelized around the edges.
  4. Garnish with green onions and crumbled blue cheese. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, and crackers. Keep warm in the oven on low heat throughout the party.

FAQs

Which game day snacks can be made completely ahead of time?

The million dollar crack dip, pimento cheese, dill pickle cottage cheese dip, spicy dill pickle dip, spinach ranch dip, and guacamole (pressed with cling wrap) can all be made 1–2 days ahead and refrigerated. The slow cooker and crockpot buffalo chicken dips just need to be set up the morning of the game. The philly cheesesteak sliders and ham and cheese sliders can be fully assembled the night before and baked just before serving. The jalapeño poppers can be assembled ahead and refrigerated unbaked until 25 minutes before serving.

How do I keep warm dips hot throughout the game?

A slow cooker or crockpot set to WARM is the best solution — the buffalo chicken dips are ideal for this. For oven-baked dips like the spinach artichoke and jalapeño corn, keep the oven at 200°F and return the dip for 10 minutes whenever it starts to cool. A small tea light fondue warmer underneath a cast iron skillet also works brilliantly. Avoid microwaving repeatedly as it can split cream cheese-based dips — gentle oven reheating gives the best result.

What are the best dippers for game day dips?

Tortilla chips are the universal pairing for buffalo and corn-based dips. Soft pretzel bites work beautifully with beer cheese, pimento cheese, and any warm cheesy dip. Celery sticks are the classic pairing for buffalo chicken dip. Crackers work with cold dips like crack dip, pimento cheese, and pickle dip. Sliced baguette or crostini are ideal for the burrata bruschetta and chicken piccata dip. For a healthier spread, carrot sticks, cucumber rounds, and bell pepper strips all work wonderfully as dippers alongside any of the cold dips.

Which snacks are best for vegetarian diets at the game day party?

The guacamole, jalapeño corn dip, skillet artichoke dip, spinach artichoke jalapeño dip, spinach ranch dip, burrata bruschetta, dill pickle cottage cheese dip, spicy dill pickle dip, baked buffalo cauliflower wings, and the Bavarian cheese board (without meat) are all excellent vegetarian options. The beer cheese dip and the million dollar crack dip can also be easily made vegetarian by simply omitting the bacon.

What is the difference between the three buffalo chicken dips on this list?

All three are delicious but suit different situations. The rotisserie buffalo chicken dip (recipe 21) is the fastest — it uses pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and is ready in 30 minutes. The slow cooker version (recipe 14) is the most hands-off — raw chicken goes in and cooks in the dip over 3–4 hours, perfect for starting before kick-off. The crockpot version (recipe 10) uses pre-cooked chicken and stays warm all game on the WARM setting — ideal for long watch parties. The best overall version (recipe 1) is the classic oven-baked version that delivers the most flavourful, golden result.

About Sana Umer

I'm Sana Umer — the home cook behind every recipe on For Foodie Friends. I'm a Pakistani-American mom of two based in the US, and I've been cooking seriously for about a decade now, mostly because feeding a family every day is the fastest way to learn how to actually cook.

I'm completely self-taught. I learned by watching my mother in Pakistan, by burning a lot of food in my early years, and by paying attention to which recipes worked and which ones needed fixing. I don't specialize in just one cuisine — I cook the Pakistani dishes I grew up with, the American desserts my kids request, weeknight dinners, holiday roasts, and everything in between.

Every recipe is personally tested in my own kitchen, every word is written by me, and every photo is taken of food I actually made.

Hi, I'm Sana Umer — the home cook, recipe tester, and writer behind For Foodie Friends.

I'm a Pakistani-American mom based in the US. I learned to cook in two kitchens — my mother's in Pakistan, where I grew up watching whole spices bloom in oil, and my own kitchen now, where I cook for my husband and kids.

Every recipe on this site has been tested in my own kitchen, often more times than I'd like to admit, before it ever made it here. I cook a little bit of everything: the Pakistani comfort food I grew up with, the American desserts my kids beg for, weeknight dinners that need to come together fast, and the holiday spreads that take all day.

If a recipe is on this site, it earned its place. No ghostwriters, no AI shortcuts, no copy-paste from somewhere else — just real recipes from a real kitchen, written to actually work the first time you make them.

Welcome to my corner of the internet.

— Sana
