Ingredients

  • 4 cups seedless watermelon cut into small rectangles or cubes
  • ¾ cup crumbled or cubed feta cheese
  • ½ cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil optional
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze or reduction optional, for drizzling

Instructions

Arrange the Flag:

  • On a large rectangular platter, arrange blueberries in the upper-left corner to represent the “stars.”

Create Stripes:

  • Place rows of watermelon cubes and alternate with lines of feta to mimic flag stripes.

Add Garnish (Optional):

  • Sprinkle with chopped mint and drizzle lightly with olive oil and balsamic glaze, if desired.

Serve:

  • Chill until ready to serve. Serve cold for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Feta Tip: Use cubed feta for sharper flag lines or crumbled feta for a softer look.
  • Make Ahead: Prep fruit up to 4 hours ahead and assemble just before serving.
  • Cheese Swap: Goat cheese or mozzarella pearls can be used instead of feta.
  • Serving Idea: Great as a starter or side at patriotic events, BBQs, or picnics.
  • Kid-Friendly: Let kids help arrange the pieces to create the flag design.
