Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef:

  • In a medium bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with cornstarch until evenly coated.

Make the Teriyaki Glaze:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, honey, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce.
  • In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.

Cook the Beef:

  • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the coated beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables:

  • In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add the broccoli florets, sliced red bell pepper, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  • Stir-fry until the vegetables are tender-crisp, about 4-5 minutes.

Combine Everything:

  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables.
  • Pour the teriyaki glaze over the beef and vegetables.
  • Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir to coat everything evenly with the glaze.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

Serve:

  • Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
  • Serve the Teriyaki Glazed Beef Stir-Fry with steamed rice or noodles.
