These St. Patrick’s Day Pretzels are soft, chewy, and festive with a touch of green. Perfect for celebrating the holiday, they’re easy to make and great for parties or snack time with family and friends.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups warm water 110°F/45°C
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1 large egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • Green food coloring
  • Coarse salt for sprinkling

Instructions
 

Activate Yeast:

  • In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

Make Dough:

  • Add flour and salt to yeast mixture. Mix and knead until smooth, about 5–7 minutes.

First Rise:

  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.

Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Shape Pretzels:

  • Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each into a rope and shape into pretzels.

Baking Soda Bath:

  • Boil 10 cups water with baking soda. Dip each pretzel in boiling water for 30 seconds, then place on baking sheet.

Egg Wash & Color:

  • Brush pretzels with beaten egg mixed with green food coloring.

Bake:

  • Sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden.
