  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Mixing spoon

Ingredients

For the Pulled Chicken:

  • 2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 ½ cups BBQ sauce (mild preferred)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Serving (Optional):

  • 6 pieces soft sandwich buns
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 cups steamed vegetables

Instructions

Add Ingredients

  • Place chicken in the slow cooker. Add BBQ sauce, chicken broth, olive oil, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Slow Cook

  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until chicken is very tender and easy to shred.

Shred Chicken

  • Remove chicken and shred gently with two forks. Return it to the sauce and mix well.

Soften & Simmer

  • Cook for another 10–15 minutes on LOW so the chicken absorbs more flavor and stays moist.

Serve

  • Serve warm on soft buns, mashed potatoes, or with steamed vegetables for an easy, senior-friendly meal.

Notes

  • Easy to Chew: Slow cooking makes the chicken very soft and tender.
  • Gentle Flavor: Mild BBQ sauce keeps it senior-friendly and not too spicy.
  • Low Effort Meal: Just set it and forget it in the slow cooker.
  • Meal Prep Friendly: Stores well in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Extra Moist Tip: Add a splash of broth when reheating to keep it juicy.
