Ingredients
  

For the Beans:

  • 2 cups cooked black beans canned, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ cup water or vegetable broth as needed

For Topping (Optional):

  • Optional Toppings Chopped cilantro, shredded cheese, or lime wedges

Instructions
 

Cook Onion:

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft.

Add Spices:

  • Add garlic and cumin. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Mash Beans:

  • Add black beans and salt. Mash beans with a spoon or potato masher.

Adjust Texture:

  • Stir in water or broth gradually until desired creamy consistency is reached.

Serve:

  • Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring often. Serve warm with optional toppings if desired.
