Ingredients

For the Candy:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon oil not extract
  • ½ teaspoon red gel food coloring
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Prepare the Pan:

  • Line a baking sheet or 9×13 dish with parchment paper. Lightly dust with powdered sugar.

Heat the Mixture:

  • In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

Cook to Hard Crack:

  • Attach a candy thermometer and boil without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage).

Add Flavor & Color:

  • Remove from heat. Quickly stir in cinnamon oil and red gel food coloring. Be careful — the steam will be strong.

Pour & Cool:

  • Pour the mixture onto the prepared pan. Let it cool completely.

Break Into Pieces:

  • Once hardened, break into bite-sized pieces and toss lightly with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
