Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Dredge each tilapia fillet in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.
  • Add the tilapia fillets to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the tilapia from the skillet and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  • Serve the pan fried tilapia with lemon wedges and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Seasoning Variations: Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste. You can add cayenne pepper for a bit of heat or use Italian seasoning for a different flavor profile.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve the tilapia with a side of steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Fish Alternatives: This recipe works well with other white fish fillets, such as cod or halibut.
  • Make-Ahead: The seasoned flour mixture can be prepared ahead of time and stored in an airtight container. The fish should be cooked just before serving.
  • Leftovers: Store any leftover tilapia in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat gently in a skillet or oven to retain crispiness.
