Ingredients

  • 1 package 3 oz orange gelatin (such as Jell-O)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 can 11 oz mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 cup whipped topping such as Cool Whip
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows optional
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract optional for extra flavor

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, dissolve the orange gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved.
  • Add 1 cup of cold water to the gelatin mixture and stir. Refrigerate the mixture for about 30 minutes to allow it to slightly thicken, but not fully set.
  • Once the gelatin has thickened, fold in the whipped topping, sour cream, vanilla extract (if using), and mini marshmallows (if using). Mix gently until well combined.
  • Carefully fold in the drained mandarin oranges, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the salad.
  • Pour the mixture into a serving dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy this creamy, dreamy treat!

Notes

  • You can substitute the sour cream with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • For a more tropical version, add pineapple chunks or coconut flakes.
  • If you want a more vibrant color, use freshly squeezed orange juice instead of water to dissolve the gelatin.
  • The salad is best served the same day but can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • For an added touch, garnish the salad with extra mandarin oranges or whipped cream.
