Ingredients
  

For the Onion Boil:

  • 4 large onions peeled and halved
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter optional, for serving
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon fresh herbs like parsley or thyme, optional

Instructions
 

Boil Onions:

  • Bring water and salt to a boil in a large saucepan. Add halved onions and cook for 12–15 minutes until tender.

Drain and Season:

  • Drain onions and transfer to a serving bowl. Add butter, black pepper, and fresh herbs. Toss gently to coat.

Serve:

  • Serve warm as a simple and flavorful side dish.
