This Old Fashioned Cinnamon Apple Crisp is warm, buttery, and packed with cinnamon-spiced apples. A perfect comforting dessert for fall, served best with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Ingredients
  

For the Filling:

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Topping:

  • ¾ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

Prepare the Filling:

  • In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly into the baking dish.

Make the Topping:

  • In another bowl, combine oats, flour, both sugars, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the butter until mixture becomes crumbly.

Assemble & Bake:

  • Sprinkle the topping over the apples. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.

Cool & Serve:

  • Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

  • Make Ahead: The filling and topping can be prepped separately and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Assemble and bake fresh for best results.
