Ingredients

  • 1 liter cranberry juice
  • 1 liter sparkling water or ginger ale
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • ½ cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 cup cranberries (fresh or frozen)
  • ½ cup pomegranate arils
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • Optional garnishes: Fresh rosemary sprigs, orange slices, cinnamon sticks

Instructions

  • Combine juices: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the cranberry juice, orange juice, and pomegranate juice.
  • Add fruit and spices: Add the sliced apple, sliced orange, cranberries, pomegranate arils, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and cloves to the pitcher.
  • Stir and chill: Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Add sparkling beverage: Just before serving, add the sparkling water or ginger ale to the pitcher. Stir gently.
  • Serve: Serve the Non-Alcoholic Christmas Sangria chilled, garnished with fresh rosemary sprigs, orange slices, and cinnamon sticks, if desired.

Notes

  • Fruit: You can use other seasonal fruits in your sangria, such as pears, grapes, or berries.
  • Spices: Adjust the spices to your liking. You can add more or less of any of the spices, or add other spices such as cardamom or nutmeg.
  • Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter sangria, you can add a little simple syrup or agave nectar.
  • Sparkling Beverage: Sparkling water or ginger ale adds a nice fizz to the sangria. You can also use other sparkling beverages, such as sparkling cranberry juice or club soda.
  • Make-Ahead: The sangria can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Add the sparkling beverage just before serving to maintain its fizz.
