  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  • Fold in chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and nuts if using.

Shape the Cookies:

  • Scoop dough into 1½-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Notes

Make Ahead:
Dough can be chilled for up to 48 hours or frozen for up to 1 month. Bake from chilled for thicker cookies.
Customizing the Flavor:
Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm twist or swap white chocolate for butterscotch chips.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a glass of cold milk.
Allergy-Friendly Options:
Use dairy-free butter and chocolate chips for a vegan version; skip nuts for nut-free.
Storage Tips:
Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
