Ingredients

  • 12 slices bacon
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Cook Bacon: Arrange bacon slices on the sheet and bake 10–12 minutes until partially cooked but still flexible.
  • Make Caramel: In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Heat over medium until bubbling and smooth, 3–5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla if using.
  • Combine: Remove bacon from oven, brush or pour caramel mixture evenly over each slice. Return to oven and bake 3–5 more minutes until caramel is bubbly and bacon is crispy.
  • Cool & Serve: Transfer bacon to a wire rack or parchment to cool. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired. Break into pieces and serve.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Bacon can be cooked in advance; add caramel just before serving for best texture.
  • Flavor Variations: Add a sprinkle of cayenne or smoked paprika for a spicy kick.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve as a snack, dessert, or party treat.
  • Storage Tips: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; caramel may soften if refrigerated.
