Liberty Bell BBQ Chicken Drumsticks are smoky, sticky, and full of patriotic flavour. Grilled or baked to perfection, they’re glazed in sweet BBQ sauce—making them a standout dish for 4th of July picnics, potlucks, and backyard BBQs.
Optional: red pepper flakes for heatfresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Marinate Drumsticks:
Pat drumsticks dry and place in a bowl. Toss with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 30 minutes.
Preheat Grill or Oven:
Preheat grill to medium heat (or oven to 400°F / 200°C). If baking, line a baking sheet with foil and place a rack on top.
Cook Chicken:
Grill or bake drumsticks for 25 minutes, turning occasionally. Begin basting with BBQ sauce during the last 10–15 minutes of cooking, turning and brushing every few minutes until caramelized and cooked through (internal temp: 165°F / 74°C).
Rest & Serve:
Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with extra sauce.
Notes
Basting Tip: Start basting only after the chicken is partially cooked to avoid burning the sauce.
Spicy Option: Add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the BBQ glaze for a kick.
Make Ahead: Marinate drumsticks the night before for even deeper flavor.
Oven Tip: Broil for the last 2 minutes if you want extra caramelization.
Serving Suggestion: Great with coleslaw, baked beans, or corn on the cob.
