Ingredients
  

For the Cookies:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract optional

For the Glaze:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter & Sugar: Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract (if using).
  • Make Dough: Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing until combined.
  • Shape Cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake: Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool slightly.
  • Make Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt butter with sugar and water. Stir until sugar dissolves, then add vanilla.
  • Glaze Cookies: Brush warm cookies with glaze and let set before serving.
