6 cups cubed day-old bread 2 cups milk ½ cup heavy cream 3 large eggs 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg ¼ teaspoon salt ½ cup raisins optional 2 tablespoons melted butter For Vanilla Sauce: ½ cup butter ½ cup granulated sugar ½ cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Add bread cubes and raisins (if using). Stir to soak thoroughly. Let sit for 10 minutes.
Pour into the baking dish, drizzle with melted butter, and bake for 45 minutes or until golden and set.
To make vanilla sauce, heat butter, sugar, and cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until smooth, remove from heat, and stir in vanilla.
Serve warm bread pudding with a generous drizzle of vanilla sauce.
