Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder for brushing

Instructions

Cook the beef mixture:

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let the beef mixture cool slightly.
  • Stir in the crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese.

Prepare the crescent dough:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the crescent roll dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and pinch the seams together to create a solid sheet of dough.

Assemble the rollups:

  • Spoon the beef, bacon, and cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough up into a log shape, making sure the filling stays inside.
  • Cut the roll into 8-10 equal slices and place the slices on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake the rollups:

  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of each rollup.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the rollups are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serve:

  • Allow the rollups to cool slightly before serving. They are perfect as an appetizer, a side dish, or even a fun main course.

Notes

  • You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some additional shredded cheese over the rollups before baking.
  • To make this recipe ahead of time, assemble the rollups and refrigerate them for up to 2 hours before baking.
  • For added crunch, you can top the rollups with a sprinkle of chopped green onions or a drizzle of your favorite dipping sauce like ranch or ketchup.
