Ingredients

  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum
  • Cocoa powder chopped nuts, or sprinkles (for coating)

Instructions

Heat the Cream:

  • In a small saucepan, heat the cream and butter over medium heat until just simmering—do not boil.

Melt the Chocolate:

  • Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour hot cream mixture over the chocolate. Let sit for 2–3 minutes, then stir until smooth.

Add the Rum:

  • Stir in the rum until fully incorporated. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm enough to scoop.

Form the Truffles:

  • Scoop out 1 tablespoon of the chilled mixture and roll into balls. Coat in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or sprinkles.

Chill Again:

  • Refrigerate until firm. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Make Ahead: Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Flavor Variations: Swap rum for bourbon, brandy, or coffee liqueur. Use white chocolate for a different twist.
Serving Suggestion: Perfect for holiday platters, homemade gifts, or a rich after-dinner bite.
