For the Fondue: 1 clove garlic halved 1 cup dry white wine 8 oz Gruyère cheese grated 8 oz Emmental cheese grated 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 tablespoon Kirsch (optional) Bread cubes, veggies, or fruits for dipping

Prepare Fondue: Rub the inside of a fondue pot or saucepan with the halved garlic clove, then discard garlic.
Add the wine and heat over medium until hot, but not boiling.
Gradually add grated Gruyère and Emmental, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
Mix in cornstarch slurry and nutmeg, continue stirring until thickened.
Stir in Kirsch if using. Keep warm over low heat and serve immediately with bread cubes, veggies, or fruits.
