Ingredients
  

For the Fondue:

  • 1 clove garlic halved
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 8 oz Gruyère cheese grated
  • 8 oz Emmental cheese grated
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon Kirsch (optional)
  • Bread cubes, veggies, or fruits for dipping

Instructions
 

Prepare Fondue:

  • Rub the inside of a fondue pot or saucepan with the halved garlic clove, then discard garlic.
  • Add the wine and heat over medium until hot, but not boiling.
  • Gradually add grated Gruyère and Emmental, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  • Mix in cornstarch slurry and nutmeg, continue stirring until thickened.
  • Stir in Kirsch if using. Keep warm over low heat and serve immediately with bread cubes, veggies, or fruits.

  • Tip: Use freshly grated cheese for best melting and smooth texture.
  • Serving: Serve immediately for best consistency; avoid reheating.
  • Variation: Try adding a splash of brandy or flavored wine for extra flavor.
