Ingredients
  

For the Bake:

  • 6 large croissants halved
  • 8 oz sliced ham
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Gruyère cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella optional

For the Béchamel Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg optional

Topping:

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped parsley optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

Make the Béchamel:

  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk. Cook until thickened, then add Dijon, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Assemble the Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish. Layer croissant halves, ham, and shredded cheese. Pour béchamel sauce evenly over the layers.

Add Topping & Bake:

  • Sprinkle with Parmesan. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake another 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Make Ahead: Assemble the casserole the night before and refrigerate. Bake in the morning.
Customizing: Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra flavour.
