Ingredients

  • 1 pound salmon fillet skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or other cooking oil
  • Optional Garnish: Chopped green onions sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Prepare salmon: Pat the salmon cubes dry with paper towels.
  • Make sauce: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Coat salmon: Add the salmon cubes to the bowl and toss to coat evenly with the sauce. Let the salmon marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Coat with cornstarch: Sprinkle the cornstarch over the marinated salmon and toss until each piece is lightly coated.
  • Pan-fry: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the salmon cubes in a single layer (don't overcrowd the pan) and pan-fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  • Serve: Serve the Crispy Honey Garlic Salmon Bites immediately, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Instructions (Baked)

  • Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare salmon and sauce: Follow steps 1-3 as above for pan-fried salmon.
  • Bake: Arrange the salmon cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly crispy. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  • Serve: Serve the Crispy Honey Garlic Salmon Bites immediately, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Notes

  • Salmon: Use fresh or frozen (thawed) salmon. Sockeye or Coho salmon are good choices.
  • Honey: Honey adds sweetness and helps the sauce caramelize.
  • Garlic and Ginger: Fresh garlic and ginger are essential for the flavor of this dish.
  • Cornstarch: Cornstarch helps create a crispy coating on the salmon.
  • Don't Overcook: Overcooked salmon will be dry. Use a meat thermometer to ensure it is cooked to the proper internal temperature.
