Cream cheese chicken is a versatile and delicious dish. These two variations offer a baked, bacon-filled option and a creamy skillet version. Both are easy to prepare and result in tender, flavorful chicken.
1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs (or a mix of oregano, basil, and thyme)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
Prepare chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
Make cream cheese mixture: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon.
Stuff chicken: Make a small slit in the side of each chicken breast, creating a pocket. Fill each pocket with the cream cheese mixture.
Bake: Place the stuffed chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Pour the chicken broth around the chicken. Sprinkle with Italian herbs. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Serve: Serve hot, with the pan juices spooned over the chicken.
Notes
Chicken: You can use chicken breasts or thighs. Thighs will be more tender and flavorful.
Cheese: You can use other cheeses that melt well, such as mozzarella or Monterey Jack.
Herbs: You can use fresh herbs instead of dried herbs.
Variations: You can add other ingredients to the sauce or stuffing, such as sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, or mushrooms.
Cooking Time: Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the thickness of the chicken. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked through.
