Classic Creamy Coleslaw is a cool, crunchy side dish made with shredded cabbage and carrots tossed in a tangy, slightly sweet dressing. Perfect for BBQs, picnics, or as a topping for pulled pork sandwiches and burgers.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded purple cabbage optional for colour
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey
  • ½ teaspoon celery seed optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Make Dressing:

  • In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, sugar, celery seed (if using), salt, and pepper.

Toss Coleslaw:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded cabbages and carrots. Pour dressing over and toss until evenly coated.

Chill & Serve:

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let flavours develop. Stir before serving and adjust seasoning if needed.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Best made 1 day ahead. Gets creamier as it sits!
  • Low-Sugar Option: Use a sugar substitute or skip sugar for a tangier slaw.
