Rich chocolate lava cakes with a gooey molten center. Perfectly soft on the outside and decadent in the middle, ideal for a special dessert treat.

Ingredients
  

For the Lava Cakes:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter plus extra for greasing
  • 4 oz bittersweet chocolate chopped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 6 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • powdered sugar for dusting optional

Instructions
 

Prep Ramekins:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder.

Melt Chocolate:

  • Melt butter and chocolate together in a microwave or double boiler until smooth. Let cool slightly.

Prepare Batter:

  • Whisk eggs, egg yolks, powdered sugar, and vanilla until light and thick. Fold in chocolate mixture and flour gently.

Fill Ramekins:

  • Divide batter evenly among prepared ramekins.

Bake and Serve:

  • Bake for 12 minutes until edges are firm but centers are soft. Let sit 1 minute, then invert onto plates.

Garnish:

  • Dust with powdered sugar or serve with ice cream if desired.
