This chicken in basil cream sauce is rich, creamy, and full of flavour. Tender chicken breasts are simmered in a savoury basil-infused sauce that’s perfect over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes for a comforting meal.
Season chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
Make Cream Sauce:
In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté 30 seconds. Stir in cream and chicken broth; bring to a simmer.
Add Cheese & Basil:
Stir in Parmesan and sun-dried tomatoes (if using). Let sauce thicken for 2–3 minutes, then add chopped basil.
Combine & Simmer:
Return chicken to skillet. Simmer 3–5 minutes until everything is hot and coated in sauce.
Garnish & Serve:
Top with extra basil if desired. Serve warm over pasta or rice.
Notes
Add Veggies: Stir in spinach or mushrooms with the cream.
Lighter Version: Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
More Flavour: Add a splash of white wine before adding cream.
Storage: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
