Ingredients

For Ceviche

  • 1 lb fresh white fish such as tilapia or cod, cut into small cubes
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice about 4–5 limes
  • ¼ cup red onion finely chopped
  • ½ cup tomatoes diced
  • ¼ cup cilantro chopped
  • 1 jalapeño finely chopped, optional for heat
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Marinate Fish

  • In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine fish and lime juice. Ensure fish is fully covered.

Marination

  • Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the fish to 'cook' in lime juice.

Add Vegetables

  • Add red onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to combine.

Serve

  • Serve immediately chilled with tortilla chips or as a light appetizer.

Notes

  • Tip: Use very fresh fish for safety and best flavor.
  • Variation: Shrimp or scallops can be used instead of fish.
  • Serving: Serve chilled with tortilla chips or tostadas.
  • Storage: Keep refrigerated and consume within 24 hours.
