Ingredients

For the French Toast:

  • 8 slices brioche or thick white bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter or oil for greasing the pan

For the Caramel Apple Topping:

  • 2 apples peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Apple Topping

  • In a pan over medium heat, melt butter. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cook until apples are soft and coated in sauce, about 5–7 minutes. Stir in caramel sauce. Set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the French Toast Batter

  • Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla in a shallow bowl.

Step 3: Cook the French Toast

  • Dip each bread slice in the egg mixture, coating both sides. Cook on a greased skillet over medium heat for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown.

Step 4: Assemble and Serve

  • Place two slices of French toast on each plate, spoon the warm caramel apple topping over, and drizzle with extra caramel sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance.
  • Add chopped nuts or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
  • Make it ahead: sauté apples and refrigerate, then warm and serve over fresh French toast.
