Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup blueberry jam or pie filling
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Cut the Pastry:

  • Unfold puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 8 equal rectangles or squares.

Add Filling:

  • Spoon a small amount of cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry and top with a spoonful of blueberry jam.

Seal and Brush:

  • Fold edges slightly inward or leave open for a danish look. Beat egg with water and brush over the tops for a golden finish.

Bake:

  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes or until puffed and golden. Cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Assemble pastries up to 4 hours before baking and refrigerate until ready.
  • Customizing the Flavor: Try swapping blueberries with raspberries, strawberries, or peaches for variety.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve warm with coffee or a drizzle of icing for a bakery-style touch.
  • Allergy-Friendly Options: Use dairy-free cream cheese and puff pastry for a lactose-free version.
  • Storage Tips: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for crispiness.
