Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped almonds or pecans optional

Instructions

Prepare the Pan:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.

Cook the Toffee:

  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, sugar, and salt. Stir constantly until mixture melts and turns golden brown (about 300°F on a candy thermometer), 10–15 minutes.

Add Vanilla:

  • Remove from heat and carefully stir in vanilla extract.

Pour and Spread:

  • Immediately pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread it evenly with a spatula.

Add Chocolate and Nuts:

  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let sit for 2–3 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly. Top with chopped nuts if desired.

Cool and Break:

  • Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until set. Break into pieces and enjoy.
