Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf French bread cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 cups mixed fresh berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)
  • Maple syrup for serving (optional)

Instructions
 

Prepare Baking Dish:

  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread half of the bread cubes evenly in the dish.

Add Berries:

  • Sprinkle half of the mixed berries over the bread layer. Add the remaining bread cubes and top with the rest of the berries.

Mix Custard:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Pour Custard:

  • Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread and berries. Press down gently to help soak the bread.

Chill (Optional):

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.

Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.

Serve:

  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup if desired.
