  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans toasted, if desired

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the brown sugar and eggs until smooth and creamy. Add the sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice and serve. Enjoy your Alabama Pecan Bread with a cup of coffee or tea!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add ½ cup of raisins or dried cranberries to the batter along with the pecans.
  • This bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
  • You can toast the pecans in a dry skillet for a few minutes to enhance their flavor before adding them to the bread.
